This great festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated every year on the sixth day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Which according to the Hindu calendar calendar will start from Monday on November 8, 2021 and will last till Wednesday, November 10, 2021. In this fast, which starts with taking a bath, the fasting women will end this fast by observing a fast for 36 hours and worshiping Lord Surya Dev and Chhathi Maiya on the last day.
The first day of Chhath Puja was taken a bath
The first day of Chhath Puja begins with Nahay Khaya. On this day, after cleaning the house and retiring from bathing, wearing new clothes, worshiping etc., take gram dal, pumpkin vegetable and rice as prasad. After the fast is eaten, all the family members take food.
Kharna the second day of Chhath Puja
This is the second day of Chhath Puja. Which is kept fast for the whole day. And in the evening, this fast is broken by making jaggery pudding on an earthen stove. After that, for the next 36 hours, a completely nirjala fast is kept.
Third day of chhath puja
On the third day of Chhath Puja, the Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, the fasting women observe a waterless fast. Also prepares the offerings for Chhath Puja. Wearing new clothes in the evening, standing in the water on a river or pond with the family, offer Arghya to the setting sun. The Nirjala fast of the third day continues throughout the night.

Story of chhath
According to mythological belief, Lord Krishna had suggested Uttara to keep this fast and worship it. After the Mahabharata war, when the son of Abhimanyu and Uttara was killed in the womb itself. Then to save that life, Lord Krishna asked to observe Uttara’s Shashthi fast. Therefore, this fast is also considered for the long life of the child.
