The government of Saudi Arabia has informed India that this year Indian citizens will be able to perform Haj, however due to the rules related to Kovid, it has limited the Haj quota to 79,237. Officials of the Ministry of Minority Affairs said that the government of Saudi Arabia told the Indian side that this year only people below 65 years of age will be able to perform Haj.

22,636 Haj pilgrims will go through private tour operators

According to officials, India’s Haj quota for Haj 2022 has been fixed at 79,237 Haj pilgrims. Out of this, 56,601 Haj pilgrims will go through Haj Committee of India and 22,636 will go through private tour operators. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the preparations for Haj are complete and the work of interviewing people who are going to be on Haj duty has also been completed.

Officials said that according to the rules set by the Saudi Arabian government, it is necessary for Haj pilgrims to undergo RT-PCR test and take both doses of the vaccine. This time 10 embarkation points have been fixed as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Srinagar, Guwahati and Kochi. Earlier there were 21 departure points.
