Yes, on Wednesday, 4 August 2021, in the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics, India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra has made it to the Olympic finals by topping the qualification of Group A. And with this he has made it to the Tokyo Olympics. He has become the first Indian to make it to the finals in the javelin throw competition from India.
Neeraj Chopra, who is debuting in the Olympics, qualified for the finals by throwing 86.65 meters of javelin in his very first attempt in this event and has also raised the medal hopes for India and India’s first Olympics in track and field. Also presented a strong claim to get a medal.
As we all know, the qualification for the javelin throw competition gives a chance of three attempts, out of which the best attempt is counted. But Chopra, a gold medalist at the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Asian Championships, decided not to make the remaining two attempts after qualifying for the finals in the very first attempt.
Former world junior champion Chopra finished on top of 32 players in Group A and Group B. His personal and season best performance is 88.07m which he made at the Indian Grand Prix 3 in Patiala in March 2021.
