Today toilets are also used in villages and towns of India, which is very important from the point of view of cleanliness and health. While on one hand Indian toilet is hygienic to use, it becomes very difficult for the elderly to use it.
In fact, it is quite a challenging task for the elderly to sit in the Indian toilet with their knees bent for a long time, because in old age the bones become weak. In such a situation, Satyajit Mittal has invented a smart toilet named ‘SquatEase’, solving this problem of the elderly.

Great idea of Satyajit Mittal
Satyajit Mittal has been an alumnus of MIT, Institute of Design, which has taken important steps to overcome the toilet related problem of senior citizens. They have designed the ‘SquatEase‘ by modifying the design of the Indian toilet, which works to overcome the problem of sitting in the toilet for a long time.
Satyajit Mittal designed the SquatEase in the year 2016, after which he received the Prototyping Grant from the Government of India and started the work of making the new style Indian toilet. Satyajit Mittal redesigned the old design Indian toilet, during which he took special care of the convenience of keeping the AD in the toilet properly.
Along with this, Satyajit took care that there was not much pressure on the knees, thighs and hips. Because older people have more pressure on these organs while sitting in the toilet, due to which they are not able to sit in the toilet. Thus Satyajit Mittal redesigned the old Indian toilet to create the SquatEase, which has more surface area as well as foot and knee adjustments.
Less water use, convenient design
Satyajit Mittal, along with making the SquatEase sit for a long time, also took care that minimum water is used in it, so that the wastage of water can be stopped.
This modern SquatEase toilet is designed with an in-depth interior design, so that minimal water is used to flush the waste and the toilet becomes easy to clean. This toilet can prove to be very useful in rural areas, where water related problems are more. In SquatEase, the place of the foot is slightly higher than the back side, So that the full weight of the body does not fall on the toes. Having such a high footrest will allow the person to sit on the toilet with their feet well regulated, which will put less stress on the knees, hips and thighs.
SquatEase was launched in the market after testing
Satyajit Mittal claims that this unique SquatEase can be easily used by a blind person, for which he also got a separate test done. Along with this, Satyajit took the help of those people who used to sit on the front part of the foot or fingers while using the Indian toilet, for testing SquatEase. During this it became clear that SquatEase can prove to be helpful in sitting with full legs.
Elderly people suffering from knee pain were also made to sit in this new toilet to see how useful SquatEase could be for them. Even during this testing, Satyajit Mittal got good results, after which he launched his product in the market.
Investment of millions, but the price is very low
Satyajit Mittal had invested 10 lakh rupees in 2 years to make SquatEase, after which it was ready as a convenient toilet. He had signed this project with the World Toilet Organization of Singapore in the year 2018. After which Satyajit Mittal’s SquatEase toilet was launched in the Indian markets in October 2018. The cost of this smart and convenient toilet is only Rs 999, which is very less according to its features.
Let us tell you that Satyajit Mittal has been awarded the title of Swachh Bharat Diwas and Swachh Innovation of 2018 for this advance toilet idea. Along with this, 5000 SquatEase toilets were installed during the Kumbh Mela in the year 2019 for the convenience of the devotees.
