The midpoint (geographical focal point) of India is located at village Manohar in district Katni in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This place is located at latitude 23°30′48″ and longitude 80°19′53″.
This center point holds special importance because there was a plan to establish an international ideal village here. Where people from all over the world can live together. This dream got shattered due to non-availability of land and lack of will power. Close to the focal point is the Maharishi Vedic University and Meditation Centre, which is visited by a large number of foreign followers of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who also visit the geographical center of India.
