Platypus, also known as duck-mouthed platypus. It is an animal that lays both eggs and milk. A mammal living in eastern Australia. It is one of the five known species of the monotreme genus of mammals, which, being mammals, feed their young with milk but in which the mother lays eggs instead of conceiving.
These are the only five egg-laying species in the entire mammal community. These are very important from the point of view of evolution because these species are a sign of the time when new mammals were evolving. And they did not have the capacity to develop a baby in the womb. Therefore, they are also put in the category of living fossils.
