India has the second longest wall in the world after the wall of China. This wall of Kumbhalgarh Fort located in Rajasthan is known as the ‘Great Wall of India’ due to its magnificent structure and length. It is a world heritage site. It is known as the wall of Kumbhalgarh. It is located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan.
Kumbhalgarh Fort is also called Ajeyagarh, because conquering this fort was a very difficult task. Many kings, including the Mughal ruler Akbar, tried to break this wall, but everyone lost their sweat in breaking it. It is said that this wall is impenetrable.
The length of this wall is 36 kilometers and the width is 15 to 25 feet. 8 horses can run simultaneously on this wall while only 5 horses can run simultaneously on the wall of China. This wall is surrounded by 13 Aravalli hills. Kumbhalgarh Fort is at an altitude of 1,914 meters above sea level. The construction work of this fort was completed in 15 years. This fort is built by combining several hills.
There is a total of 360 temples inside the Kumbhalgarh Fort, in which there are 300 Jain temples and 60 Hindu temples. There are seven entrances inside the fort, in which Ram Dwar, Hanuman Dwar, Pagra Dwar are very famous. It is built according to the rules of Vastu Shastra. Pastel colored murals are found in the rooms of this palace. The rooms of the fort are painted turquoise, green and white.
This fort was built by Maharana Kumbha. The great ruler Maharana Pratap was also born in this fort. It is said that after the battle of Haldi Ghati, Maharana Pratap stayed in this fort for a long time. Maharana Sanga’s childhood was also spent in this fort.
